The University of Nottingham
Needed more rooms with a campus view. We delivered a three-storey block in just 16 weeks – adding an extra 94 en-suite bedrooms, communal kitchenettes and two tutor flats in time for term start. To deliver this project, we undertook a collaborative, hybrid construction approach, with the L-shaped blocks manufactured offsite to reduce disruption for students, with the stair core built onsite.
UCL
Took site restrictions to another level. We’re always up for a challenge, and London’s space constraints required out-of-the-box thinking to increase capacity for the university, on a busy site opposite St Pancras Station. The flexibility of modular proved its worth – adding an innovative rooftop extension to an existing building that not only complemented the design, but provided 55 additional en-suite bedrooms, shared kitchens and living spaces in just 12 weeks.
Newcastle University
Urgently needed quality, city centre accommodation for a whopping 200 students. Offsite manufacturing came into its own on this project, as we were able to manufacture and fit-out the accommodation offsite whilst the groundworks were completed: minimising city centre disruption.
This also meant time certainty for the university, ensuring that the five-storey, 206-bed building was ready to go for the new term. With 150 en-suite bedrooms, two accessible e-suite bedrooms, 54 studios and shared kitchens and living spaces, The Foundry represents the very best of permanent modular buildings.
