BRIEF
Keswick School a leading, co-educational Academy in Cumbria, required additional provision to rapidly expand their teaching and toilet facilities. To ensure staff and pupils could move easily and quickly between lessons, the temporary classrooms needed to be located in close proximity to the existing school buildings. The Premier team were challenged with installing the classrooms on an adjacent tennis court with restricted access. The team also had to give careful consideration to protecting the lawned area around the tennis court during the installation of the buildings.
The CHALLENGES
• Careful logistical planning involved the co-ordination of a local road closure to ensure the modules could be safely transported to the school and once there, safely craned over existing buildings into position.
• To safely access the tennis courts and protect the surrounding area, the team laid a purpose-built temporary roadway for vehicles, heavy plant machinery and people to cross. This was removed upon completion.
• As the project was delivered during term-time, careful consideration was given to timings and traffic management to ensure minimal disruption to staff, pupils and school activities.
The SOLUTION
A full turnkey solution including all associated groundworks was provided, comprising of two teaching blocks accommodating four fully equipped double classrooms, a central cloakroom and toilet facilities. To fully comply with DDA requirements, ramps and entrance steps were constructed to link and provide access to the buildings.
As the school was operational throughout the project, speed of delivery was critical to minimising disruption. The overall site programme was delivered in only 10 days, including foundation works, installation and fit out. Staff and pupils were able to use the new temporary classroom facilities within a few days of completion.

Delivered on time and on budget, our modular school solutions provided the essential additional teaching space that the school required. Collaborating closely with the school, local authorities and associated contractors, the project was delivered safely, efficiently and within a short timeframe so that students could continue learning in a high-quality environment.
Temporary classrooms manufactured offsite provide our clients with greater certainty of delivery on time and on budget.
