The art of singular living: rethinking accommodation entitlements

In March 2024, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) introduced its modernised accommodation offer (MAO) which includes upgrading its single living accommodation. But how can this fresh start be taken advantage of, and standards improved across the board?

Our answer? Modular building (of course). But why?

  1. Spacious modern living
  2. Rapid installation
  3. Cost certainty

We have a proven track record in providing permanent buildings to the MoD, including six blocks of single living accommodation at Beacon Barracks and three four-storey blocks at RAF Coningsby.

Delivered in just 12 and 16 weeks respectively, these fast-track solutions demonstrate the speed, sustainability and high quality of modular buildings when it comes to creating long-term homes.

Spacious, modern single living

A peaceful environment is vital for anyone serving in the military to promote mental wellbeing and provide important spaces to decompress and unwind. Modular buildings provide light, spacious environments, fitted with the latest in energy efficient technology; keeping them cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

With high quality insulation and innovative features such as rainwater harvesting and PV solar panels, modular buildings can help their residents and the MoD to reduce energy consumption from the comfort of their home, leading to lower bills and a greener environment.

Made with the latest materials, these buildings are sustainable, durable and designed to last.

Fast, flexible solutions, delivered at pace

Traditional construction methods can mean months of disruption and delays. Our buildings are precision manufactured in our controlled factory environment, meaning that they arrive on site fitted out and ready to go. That means less time spent on site and minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

Our large factory capacity means that we can produce more, faster, providing rapid solutions that can quickly scale up accommodation provision.

At RAF Coningsby, all the bathrooms were fully fitted out at our factory, the floors were laid where possible and the modules were even decorated prior to installation – minimising on site construction time.

But it’s not just the fit out. We’ve invested in technology that can help to speed up the installation process, including an innovative lifting frame that improves site safety as well as easing installation.

A funding solution that doesn’t cost the earth

Backed by a well-established 65+-year history, Premier Modular offers both security and flexibility when it comes to financing. Our controlled factory environment also minimises the risk of delays, meaning no unforeseen costs – a benefit in a time of budget uncertainty.

When it comes to delivering high quality singular living spaces, modular can help the MoD to bring its accommodation in line with its new standards.
